Are you ready to face eternity?

May I ask you a couple of questions??

1. Do you know for sure that you are going to heaven when you die?

2. When you die and stand before God and He asks, "Why should I let you into My heaven?", what will you say?

If you don't know, then please let me explain to you the best news you could ever hear!

First, you can know that you are going to heaven. The Bible very clearly tells us this! 1 John 5:13 says "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life..."

Eternal life in Heaven is a free gift. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23),

And, as with any gift, it cannot be earned or deserved. Otherwise it wouldn't be a gift. There is nothing that we can do to earn a place in heaven -- no good deeds, no religious efforts. Nothing. "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." (Ephesians 2:8, 9)

We cannot earn our way into heaven because we are sinners. Sin is breaking God's rules. This includes lying, lust, cheating, anger, immoral behavior, etc. Have you ever told a lie? Even a little one? Then you're a sinner. Therefore, we cannot please God. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

How good would you have to be to please God? He says "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect." (Matthew 5:48) With that high of a standard, no one can possibly save himself.

But God is merciful! He really doesn't want to punish us. "God is love." (1 John 4:8) God tells us that He "has loved [us] with an everlasting love" (Jeremiah 31:3).

But the same Bible tells us that because this same God who loves us is also Holy and just, He must punish sin. "I will by no means clear the guilty" (Exodus 34:7) "The soul who sins shall die." (Ezekiel 18:4)

So, we have a problem. God loves us and doesn't want to punish us, but He is just and must punish sin. This punishment is eternity in Hell. Just as Heaven is a real place, so is Hell!

God solved this problem for us in the Person of Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us clearly that Jesus is the infinite God-Man. "In the beginning was the Word (Jesus)... and the Word (Jesus) was God. And the Word (Jesus) was made flesh, and dwelt among us..." (John 1:1, 14)

Jesus Christ came to earth to live a sinless, perfect life. He was then qualified to pay the required penalty for our sins - death. Then He rose from the grave to purchase a place for us in heaven! "All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him (Jesus) the iniquity (sin) of us all." (Isaiah 53:6)

Jesus bore our sins in His body on the cross and now offers to you eternal life in heaven as a free gift. This free gift is received by faith.

Faith, however, is not merely believing things like historical facts. The Bible says that Satan believes that there is one God, but believing that fact doesn't save him.

Also, faith is not merely trusting God through a temporary crisis such as financial, family, or physical needs.

These are both good. But they are not saving faith.

Faith that saves is trusting in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life. It means resting upon Christ alone for what He has already done rather than in what you or I have done to get us into heaven. "Believe (trust) on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved..." (Acts 16:31)

You have now read the greatest story ever told about the greatest offer ever made by the greatest person who ever lived: Jesus Christ. The question now is

Would you like to receive the gift of eternal life?

If so, that means that you transfer your trust from what you have been doing to what Christ has already done for you on the cross, accept Christ as Savior and as Lord, and repent of anything that is not pleasing to Him. He will reveal these things to you as you grow in your relationship with Him.

If this is what you want, you can pray to God right where you are. You can receive His free gift of eternal life in Heaven through Jesus Christ right now.

"For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:10, 13)

An example prayer might be
"Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and do not deserve eternal life. But I believe that You died and rose from the grave to purchase a place for me in Heaven. Come into my life; take control of my life; forgive my sins and save me. I repent of my sins and now place my trust in You for my salvation. I accept your free gift of eternal life."

If your prayer is sincere, you can be certain of your place in Heaven! "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life." (John 6:47)
