First Baptist Church has been sharing the word and work of God in Wilson and the three county areas of Ellsworth, Russell and Lincoln since before 1910. It began as a totally Czech ministry Bible study held in a country school house, then gradually changed to English as the population of the area changed.

We are an independent Baptist church fellowshipping with the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches (GARBC) nationally and the Mid-Continent Association of Regular Baptist Churches (MARBC) on a statewide basis.

Our ministry can be described in three simple words: Exalting, Equipping, and Evangelizing. Exalting Jesus Christ, equipping Christians for spiritual service, and evangelizing the lost is evident in every area of our church.


  • Our Sunday School provides a class for every age group and is based upon sound Biblical Exposition, by qualified and dedicated teachers.


  • Our Music Ministry is a vital part of our worship. The Bible says, "Sing unto the Lord" (Psalm 30:4). We believe that singing should be Bible-centered, Spirit-anointed, and Christ-honoring.


  • Our Preaching Ministry is the hub from which all other activities and ministries extend. "Holding forth the Word of Life" (Phil 2:16), is the heartbeat of First Baptist Church!


  • Our Missions Ministry begins in Wilson Kansas, extends across America, and reaches into many foreign countries through our many missionary support commitments. "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel" (Mark 16:15) is our mandate.
